Ronald Reagan was born Born in Tampico, Illinois on February 6, 1911. Before becoming Governor of California and later President of the United States, Reagan made his career in both tv and in films. He also served as president of the "Screen Actors Guild".
Although Reagan is considered the voice of the Republican conservative movement, he actually was a democrat untill 1962. In 1966, he ran and won as the 33rd governor of California, a feat he later repeated in 1970.
After running for President of the United States and losing his bids in 1968 and 1976; he was finally successful in 1980 and again in 1984, becoming the country's 40th President (landslide victories in both).
Reagan left office in 1989 and was succeeded by his Vice President, George H. W. Bush. 5 years later in 1994, he revealed he had Alzheimer's disease and eventually succumbed 10 yrs later at the age of 93.
His impact on conservative and traditional values can still be felt today (his name often invoked by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle). Although, Reagan is no longer with us, his spirit still lives on.
